Message from ACFE-India President

In an Exclusive interview given to Indiaforensic President of India Chapter - Mr. G. Kali Prasad said that Fraud is omnipresent and if we do not make special efforts to prevent, detect and investigate the frauds it can play havoc to the society. Mr. G. Kali Prasad is also a Partner at Ernst and Young in India , here are his comments on the future challenges in terms of the frauds and also on the Certified Fraud Examination

  • How did you come to be involved in the  Indian Chapter of ACFE ?

I am one of the founding members of the India Chapter of ACFE. In fact, Sharad Saxena, the first CFE in India, and me had lot of discussions on how to go about starting a Chapter of the Association in India for more than two years before the Chapter actually got started with the initiative of Mr.S.K.Bansal, Mr. Deepankar Sanwalka, Mr.Rupendra Singh and Mr.S.R.Bansal etc.

  • What do you see as some of the benefits of the ACFE- India chapter for current Certified Members ?

There are many benefits of becoming members of ACFE-India Chapter as we are organising seminars/workshops, special lectures by experts and other educational events. We are also publishing a news letter called "Whitepaper" focused on white-caller crime in India which is very well appreciated by the members.

We are intensifying the efforts to organise seminars, conferences and other awareness events across the country more frequently than before and i am sure the members will significantly benefit not only from these events but also by the renewed focus on member services in the areas of publications and website to be developed for the chapter.
I would also like to invite all the anti-fraud professionals in the country to join the Association so that we will have enough number of people in each of the major cities so that we can organise various events in all the cities and make the Association very popular and useful for all the members

  • What do you see as some of the major potential fraud problems in your India ?

Fraud is omnipresent and if we do not make special efforts to prevent, detect and investigate the frauds it can play havoc to the society, corporates and lives of individuals. As the complexity of business environment is increasing and as the distance between the ownership and the management is growing, more and more frauds are happening and are also being reported in the public. My view is that the fraud is a universal problem and it is restricted any particular industry or a region.

  • What are your thoughts on the trend to incorporate anti-fraud training into Indian accountancy programs? Do you know of programs offered by Indiaforensic Research Foundation ?

I fully support the thought of introducing anti-fraud training into Indian accountancy programs as the majority of anti-fraud professionals are accountants today. I am aware of the training programmes being offered by Indiaforensic Research Foundation and I want to really congratulate them to have taken the initiative in this area and to develop good quality programmes
